What is the Fife Science Festival?

Every year, Dundee Science Centre co-ordinates a programme of events taking place in several venues across Fife. Fife Science Festival is an annual festival delivering a range of different, fun activities for the whole family to enjoy.


When is the next festival?

The next festival takes place between Saturday 12 May – Saturday 9 June 2018, travelling to two different areas of Fife and closing with a special event at Dundee Science Centre. Come along for a range of hands-on events, from career inspiration days, family fun days, and a primary and secondary schools programme.


How can I get a copy of the festival programme?

We deliver our event programmes to local postcodes and also to several local businesses.


How can I book events?

There is no need to book to take part in any of our public drop-in events.


Do you have any free events?

Yes – in fact, most of our events are free so that anyone can enjoy the Fife Science Festival experience – after all, we want to make science accessible and relevant to people of all ages and backgrounds.


Where does the festival take place?

The festival takes place in Cowdenbeath, Glenrothes and Dundee. Please see our What’s On page for futher details on the activities taking place during the festival.


How long do the events last?

Please visit What’s On and see specific event pages for details prior to attending.
Allow at least 1 hr for visits to one of our public events.


How accessible are the venues?

Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre has ramp access throughout, disabled parking, toilets and changing facilities, and a lift to the basement level.

The Lomond Centre, Glenrothes has ramp access available from the main entrance, from the large craft room and the lounge function suite. There are also disabled parking and toilet facilities.

Dundee Science Centre has accessible entrances and automated doors; accessible toilet facilities; access to all floors via lift; disabled parking spaces by the entrance and also welcome guide dogs.


How can I get to the venue?

Cowdenbeath Leisure Centre is situated on Pit Road just off the High Street. This centre has ample free car parking and is well served by buses.

The Lomond Centre, Glenrothes is situated on Woodside Way just off the A92 near Auchmuty High School. The centre has ample free car parking and is well served by buses.
