What is Dundee Science Centre?

Dundee Science centre - an independent charity - is a leading educational, cultural and community resource providing a culture of curiosity, confidence and engagement with science for visitors of all ages.

What are your opening times?

We are open 7 days a week, 10am-5pm. The centre will be closed 25th & 26th December and 1st  & 2nd January.

How long does it take to go around the centre?

We recommend you spend between 2-3 hours in the centre, giving plenty time to explore around our exhibition floors and catching our daily shows.

What are the current shows?

Our shows are constantly changing throughout the year to cover many different themes. You can find our current shows here.

Do you host children’s birthday parties?

Yes! You can find out all about our birthday party offerings here. When you’re ready to book, just pop into the centre to speak with a member of the team or call us on 01382 228800!

Do you have storage facilities within the centre?

Unfortunately, we don’t have any secure storage within the centre for belongings. We have space behind our reception area for coats and jackets however; we advise that you keep any valuables on you.

What ID is required for student tickets?

 To qualify for a Student day pass, a valid student card has to be presented.

What catering facilities do you have?

Our Infusion Coffee Shop is situated off the reception area, towards the back of the centre and is open from 9:30am-5pm. Lunches and light snacks, plus hot and cold drinks are available.

How do I find you?

Dundee Science Centre is a 5 minute walk from the railway station and just a few minutes’ walk from any city centre bus stop.

Dundee is a 90 minute drive from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen – we are situated close to the city centre, follow signs for Dundee Science Centre. Our postcode for SAT Nav is: DD1 4QB

Is there car parking?

Yes, we have 1 car park to the front of the centre as well as 1 behind. Greenmarket multi-storey car park is also situated across from the centre.

All car parks are run by Dundee City Council and have a parking charge. To find out more information about parking charges, you can visit the council website here. 

Can we get to you by train?

Yes, Dundee Science Centre is only a 5 minute walk from Dundee’s train station. If you’re travelling by train, make sure you take advantage of ScotRail’s ‘Kids for a Quid’ ticket deal enabling free entry for one child per ticket to Dundee Science Centre. Group Visits:

What constitutes a group?

A group is required to have a minimum of 10 in a category to qualify for our discounted group rates. For example: 10 children and 5 adults would qualify. 5 children and 5 adults wouldn’t qualify.

Is there a minimum/maximum group size?

We don’t have a minimum (unless you wish to qualify for group rates) or a maximum group size for coming into the centre. 

Do you have space for packed lunches?

When booking in a group visit, where possible we will reserve space within the centre for packed lunches.

Do we need to book in advance?

Yes, all groups are required to book in advance to qualify for group rates and to ensure we have the facilities available to accommodate your visit.

Educational Visits:

What topics do you cover?

Our STEM Learning team host a wide range of workshops for schools, covering many different topics. You can see our current workshop listings here

Do you provide space for packed lunches?

Yes, we provide space within the centre for packed lunches. School groups will be allocated a 30 minute slot during their visit for lunch.

Do you have risk assessment for teachers?

We send out a copy of our risk assessment in our confirmation emails for all educational visits.

Facilities and Access for all:

How accessible is the centre?

Dundee Science Centre has accessible entrances and automated doors; accessible toilet facilities; access to all floors via lift; parking spaces by the entrance and welcomes guide dogs.

Do you offer carer tickets?

Carers of disabled visitors are admitted free of charge (one carer per disabled visitor, including when the disabled visitor is 4 or under); a reduced admission fee applies to the disabled visitor.

Please bring along a carer’s badge or a form of ID to help us process your admission on arrival.

Do you have wheelchairs for hire?

We have a wheelchair within the centre that visitors can use throughout their visit, with no charge. You can call up before your visit to speak to a member of staff who can arrange this before you arrive.

Do you have facilities for wheelchair users and babies?

Our disabled toilet and baby changing facilities are located at the rear of the centre, next to our Infusion Coffee Shop. Both facilities have toilets within, both of which are gender neutral and suitable for all.
